GREEN SQUARE 2023
Grow together Grow green / 10k+
In recent years, the world has been confronted with crises that have left no one indifferent. From the devastation of the pandemic to the widespread increase of atmospheric temperatures in cities, both of which have resulted in an overwhelming number of deaths. A recent study published in 2023 indicates that if cities extend tree coverage by up to 30%, temperatures can drop by half a degree Celsius during summer heat waves. Individually this may seem like a miniscule endeavor, however collectively it could prove otherwise. Wanting to underline the potential of this shared effort, Topotek 1's proposal for the Bergamo Landscape Festival is a collective action that develops on three levels: deconstruction, activation, growth in green.
The installation proposed in Milan is further elaborated. The use of scaffolding – a lightweight and reusable system – constitutes a strategy which is not only easy to assemble, disassemble and reuse, but which can also be eventually repurposed and reactivated in different locations. The invitation to participate generates a performance rather than a pure installation. Intended as a vivid artistic space and at the same time a social tool, the project rethinks the way we relate to each other and influence our environment, emphasizing the potential of a dynamic growth process dependent on one's actions, the possibility to grow together, grow in green.

A significant performative and social moment will be the screening of "Homo Urbanus", a series of 10 films by the artists and filmmakers Beka & Lemoine, who has been invited by Topotek 1 encouraging in this way the purpose of the installation as a stage for gathering.
