As Cultural Gardener, Katy has been working at the Hepworth Wakefield garden in West Yorkshire, UK, since its creation in 2019 along with a small team of local volunteers.
The Hepworth Wakefield garden, designed by internationally renowned landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, is open 24 hours a day with free access. Katy is responsible for the day-to-day management of the planting and liaises with the learning and events teams to promote creative activities related to the garden.
Katy initially studied fine arts before retraining in horticulture. She has previously worked in beautiful gardens across the UK and USA, including the Royal Botanic Garden at Edinburgh Botanic Garden in Logan: Dumfries & Galloway, Tresco Abbey: Isles of Scilly and Longwood Gardens: Pennsylvania, USA.
In 2023 Katy was recognised by His Majesty the King for her services to the Arts and the Wakefield community for her work as a community anchor in the garden during the Covid-19 pandemic.
