Ton Muller

Ton Muller is director of the landscape design area of the City of Amsterdam.

His work revolves around public urban landscapes in harmony with nature.

He works as a landscape designer, green manager and plant expert for different urban projects. His work is linked to the Dutch tradition of nature-based green and plant design.

Working for the city of Amsterdam for over 25 years, Ton has experimented with different ways to create green environments, from strategy to the design of urban plants to create more livable spaces.


It pioneered new habitat-based approaches for planting in public spaces and built areas to create resilient plant communities. He collaborates with urban planners, ecologists and architects.

His work combines topics such as biodiversity, climate adaptation, water management, community building and maintenance.
